Wash Park UCC
What We Believe

WPUCC has aligned with particular stances of thought and deed. View these stances in detail by clicking a title. In recent years, as carefeul observers of intent and action, the Wash Park Congregation has voted to declare itself:

A Just Peace Congregation

Active efforts to further causes of justice and peace are central to the life of the congregation. These efforts have been focused on international peacemaking, economic and racial justice.

An Open and Affirming Congregation

The church is intentionally open to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, is affirming of their participation in the full life of the congregation, and is committed to efforts toward the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people in the broader society.

A Whole Earth Congregation

The congregation is committed to environmental stewardship, active work in support of the global environment and building a consciousness of the Integrity of Creation.

A Restorative Justice Congregation

Restorative justice, an alternative to punitive justice, seeks to bring together victims and offenders. WPUCC is committed to restorative justice efforts in both the criminal justice system, and in the broader community.

An Inclusive Language Covenant Congregation

We avoid an atmosphere of discrimination.

A Church in Partnership

We align with Hermandad de Presbiterios Mayas of Guatemala.  We have a long standing relationship in which we attempt to be good listeners so that we might advocate on their behalf with the Government of the United States.
