This committee was established so that the Pastor and the congregation have a regular means of communicating with each other. Members who have concerns about the Pastor's performance of duties may use the good offices of the committee to communicate these concerns to him or her. Likewise, the Pastor if she or he has concerns about the ministry of the church or its lay people, may also use the committee to speak to the congregation.

The committee also evaluates the Pastor's performance once each year and hears the Pastor's overall evaluation of the church. The Pastor in addition to four church members in good standing compose the committee. Two members are elected by the congregation and two are chosen by the Pastor.

The Building and Grounds Committee is working hard to make sure that the physical structure of the church is kept in a manner which allows its members a feeling of safety and pride. Our building serves its purpose in being a place were the WPUCC congregation can meet and enjoy the benefits of a church community without the worry. The second part of this Committee's duty is to make sure that the physical grounds provide a peaceful and beautiful place to come together.

Volunteer work is always appreciated, not just on the church work days. If you have a skill or can donate time to beautifying the church grounds or structure, please let a committee member know. This is an excellent way to give to the church without opening your pocketbook. In addition, it can really make you feel like you have built something that really means something to your church family.

"We advocate for and listen to the disenfranchised, helping dream into reality a new world order of social justice, restorative justice, just peace and shalom for all people."

For nearly 70 years the Washington Park United Church of Christ has had an intentional commitment to serve the Washington Park area, the city of Denver, the nation and the world. German theologian and martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer has said, "The church is not the church unless it exists for others." Thus, one of the measures used by our church to justify continuing as a congregation is the degree to which our church serves others rather than just serving ourselves.
