Music Celebration
At Wash Park, music is an integral part of our worship experiences. Our choir philosophy is
based on enjoying the process of creating beautiful musical expressions to enhance worship services. We enjoy the process and
do not think of our finished product as a performance, even though every time we sing for worship, it is our absolute
best as a gift to the congregation and each other. Our choirs are made of people with a mixture of talents and levels
of experience, who come together and make wonderful, meaningful music incorporating vocal blend, accuracy, and engaged energy.
Using
inclusive language, music is selected from a wide range of musical and spiritual tastes, with varying rhythms, rich chords,
and lyric melodies in harmony with the spirit of each worship service. Often, we utilize handchimes, drums, guitars,
flutes, violins, clarinets, saxes, bag-pipes and other instruments to add richness and excitement.
A CHOIRED SPIRIT: This is our adult choir for all adults and high school aged people.
RADIANT BEAMS AND BEAMERS: These
are the young choirs of the church, and theyre made of certain aged youth. Radiant Beams are kids K-2nd grade; Beamers are 2nd grade
through middle school. Often they sing together for holidays and special occasions.
FAMILY CHOIR: Family Choir is made of people
of all ages, who sing simple songs at Intergenerational Services, which are quarterly at WPUCC. Intergenerational Services focus on
whole families, so this is an opportunity for people to sing in choir when a commitment all year is too much. And all sizes and shapes
of families come together, making it one big group of singers, all ages.
