Nancy Rosas, Washington Park UCC's Christian Education Minister. She is a Latina woman from Central America who has explored, lived and expressed her faith serving through a variety of ministries within the church and in the communities where she has lived both in Central America and in the US. Her love and passion for God, life, peace, and justice comes from what her parents, a minister couple, modeled for her; from the reality she lived and witnessed in Central America and in US border states; and from her childhood church's joy and celebration of the presence, gifts, and participation of children and youth in the ministry of the church.

Nancy is a recent graduate of the Iliff School of Theology here in Denver, where she received the degree of Master in Divinity. Her work includes: children, youth, and women's ministry; educator in urban and rural areas of Guatemala in the areas of community organization, self-development for people, spiritual and theological formation, as well as coordination of immersion work in the reality of Central America for US delegations. In the United States her work includes: education on the human rights and socio-religious reality in Central America; education on justice issues based on a model of mutuality and reconciliation between churches and organizations in the US and Central America; working with Latin American immigrants in the US in the areas of organization, self-development, health issues, and on human and immigrant rights. The last three years, she has worked as the director of the women's program at a non-profit organization in Denver where she also has served leading worship services and providing pastoral care for Latino/a immigrants in the Metro Denver area.

Currently Nancy is on the path towards ordained ministry within the United Church of Christ.

Hi, my name is Cheryl, the bookkeeper and administrator.

I grew up in Denver, attending Englewood High. Then graduated from Emily Griffith in 1993 with an emphasis in customer service and bookkeeping.

My family and I live in Littleton. Jamie, my husband and I have two girls, 10 and 6 years old.

I look forward to meeting all of you, stop by and say hello!

As a doctoral student in Nonprofit Administration, I am intrigued by social injustice issues. Primarily, those issues involving economic inequality and more specifically, homelessness, affect me the most. My current endeavor is creating a nonprofit suited to the poor and working classes and the animals in their lives.

Personally, I enjoy self-reflection and spiritual growth, working on finding the path that best suits me. My family, composed of my partner Rachel, my parrot, chihuahuas, cat and fish are a calming and entertaining aspect of my growth. They bring me back to the simplicity of loving and caring that really foster my participation in the external world.

My family of origin is still found in Kansas, a place I love and miss, especially as my nephew is growing up so quickly. My chosen family are still in Colorado, plugging away at their spiritual growth and activism...great mentors and friends that have taught me so much during my years there.

Luke graduated from Goddard College in February 2009 with a degree in Music Composition, the Philosophy of Music, and Human Rights. He is an accomplished jazz pianist, and has performed widely through the Denver Metro area.

In addition to being a freelance musician and composer, he teaches piano and music (anyone looking for a great piano teacher?), and has worked at the Denver Rescue Mission in client relations and the Lamont School of Music in the recording studio. He has experience in composition, liturgical music, choral direction and voice coaching and site read hymns like an angel for the search committee! He's currently living with his wife Tonya, in the Denver area.

Since retiring from a twenty-five year career in public education, Becky Porter has completed the training to become a Certified Massage Therapist, and more recently the M. Div. degree at Iliff School of Theology. Combining inclinations to physical healing plus a call to ministry led Becky to Clinical Pastoral Education which she studied for a year to become a Board Certified Clinical Chaplain through the College of Pastoral Supervision & Psychotherapy. During her seminary career, Becky served two internships at WPUCC, and has now been appointed by the BOG as the Chaplain On Call for WPUCC as of August 2007. She is also a part-time On Call Chaplain at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center while she completes her paper for ordination.

Becky and her partner Dana have been members of WPUCC since 2001, and were married by Rev. Em in August of 2002. Dana chaired the SOA Committee for two years since and still serves on that committee. Dana has an MSW from D.U., and is a Care Manager at Lutheran Hospital. Dana and Becky live in Arvada with their daughter Ginny who is a senior at Pomona High School, and a section leader and a squad leader in the championship Pomona Marching Band.

Jack Wieczorck, Interim Minister
revjack@wpucc.org

Jack Wieczorek, Washington Park UCC's Interim Minister, is not really a new face at the church. When Jack and his spouse, Rev. Jane Nelson, moved to the Denver area in 1994, WPUCC was their home church for a few years even as they spent much of their time doing ministry elsewhere.

Jack and Jane live in Westminster, sharing their house with Nakita an 8 year old Great Pyrenees mix. They have 4 adult children (step-children for Jack) 8 grandkids, and a 1 year old great granddaughter.

Raised in Michigan, Jack received a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Oakland University and a Masters in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. He spent nearly 20 years working for various human service organizations and non-profits, including two years as Director of Minnesota Clergy & Laity Concerned, an interfaith peace and justice organization.

Changing career direction, Jack attended United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, receiving a Masters of Divinity degree in 1991. He has since served churches in Minnesota, Wyoming, and Colorado. He has twice co-pastored with Jane, who has also focused most of her work since coming to Colorado in interim ministry. Washington Park is the eighth church Jack has served as an Interim.
